HKB, 2025
In 1964, Switzerland’s first female typesetter was trained. For her to pursue this education, her father had to fight persistently for permission. The Swiss television covered the story for two minutes. Other than this report, little has been documented in archives about female typesetters in Switzerland. This work builds upon this TV segment and extends the story through fiction, in the spirit of ‘Critical Fabulation.’ The protagonist tells her own story through various artifacts, set in a time of upheaval, shaped by the women’s movement and profound technological changes. A visual and narrative attempt to fill the gap in the archives and history.
Mentored by Noemi Parisi and Samira Schneuwly.
